Deconstructing ITSM

About this blog and me

I’m Joe Pearson. As my profile says,

I am a consultant specialising in ITIL, IT Service Management (ITSM) and Business Service Management (BSM), with over 20 years’ experience in the UK and South Africa in organisations such as IBM, Dimension Data, Business Connexion, Foster-Melliar, T-Systems, Quintica and Pink Elephant. I’m qualified in ITIL and ISO/IEC 20000.

I work primarily in the UK, with connections in Finland. (For the previous 17 years I worked in South Africa as an expat, including travel to places such as Botswana, Kenya and Ghana.)

In this blog – among random thoughts and musings on ITSM – I’m looking at what makes up ITSM and related methods (“best” practice or otherwise). I’m asking “But why?” and looking for a better answer than “because ITIL says so” or “because our tool vendor says so”.

I’m also at View Joe Pearson's profile on LinkedIn and Grayhurst Consulting.
